About Coronavirus Decontamination and Disinfection

The best thing you can do to protect yourself from COVID-19 is avoid being exposed to the virus altogether. The virus is thought to spread primarily from person-to-person by people who are in close contact with each other (within roughly 6 feet).

Try to avoid shared spaces such as schools, gyms, businesses, and other frequent community gathering spaces that are likely to draw in people with varying levels of exposure.

Jenkins Environmental Services offers varying levels of Coronavirus Decontamination and Disinfection to effectively disinfect your facilities and keep those areas as safe as possible.

Whether you are being proactive in an attempt to prevent the spread of the virus or reactive to a known exposure incident, we have a solution for you and your property. Our decontamination services include HEPA vacuuming for all surfaces, a wipe down of all hard surfaces, air purification, and fogging of chemical disinfecting solutions.

How COVID-19 Spreads

As the spread of COVID-19 impacts our community and the communities around us, it has never been more important to address how we can be proactive in preventing continued spread as well as quickly reactive to any contamination that occurs in our homes and businesses. We must work together to reduce the risk of contamination.

CDC COVID-19 Help prevent the disease from spreadingPerson-to-person spread

According to the CDC, the virus spreads mainly from person-to-person.

  • Between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet)
  • Through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

These droplets can land in the mouth or nose of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs.

How long does Coronavirus last on surfaces?

A person can also potentially get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or eyes.

It is not certain how long the virus survives on surfaces, but studies released by the World Health Organization suggest that coronaviruses (including preliminary information on the COVID-19 virus) may persist on surfaces for a few hours or up to several days.

Make sure you practice proper hand hygiene and use hand sanitizer or wash your hands with soap and water regularly to help prevent transmission.

How easily the virus spreads

How easily a virus spreads from person-to-person can vary. Some viruses are highly contagious, like measles, while other viruses do not spread as easily. Another factor is whether the spread is sustained, spreading continually without stopping.

The virus that causes COVID-19 spreads easily through crowds and urban areas from person to person. The combination of person to person spread and the spread of the virus on surfaces makes it easy for it to move through.

COVID-19 Tracker: The Situation in the United States

  • Imported cases of COVID-19 in travelers have been detected in the U.S.
  • Person-to-person spread of COVID-19 was first reported among close contacts of returned travelers from Wuhan.
  • During the week of February 23, CDC reported community spread of the virus that causes COVID-19 in California (in two places), Oregon and Washington. Community spread in Washington resulted in the first death in the United States from COVID-19, as well as the first reported case of COVID-19 in a health care worker, and the first potential outbreak in a long-term care facility.
